England announced their squad for the 3rd Test against South Africa yesterday. There were no new caps, no roof-tilers and no Australians. Darren Pattinson was replaced by Steve Harmison (who would have thought of doing that? That’s why these people are in charge of selection. They’ve picked an experienced returning-to-form (we hope) strike bowler instead of an inexperienced 29 year old Aussie. Leftfield!) whilst his Durham team-mate Paul Collingwoood also makes the twelve.
The Squad is as follows:
Vaughan, Ambrose, Anderson, Bell, Broad, Collingwood, Cook, Flintoff, Harmison, Panesar, Pietersen, Sidebottom and Strauss
Here’s how they should line up at Headingley (according to Pie Chucker, who knows about these things):
1. Straussy
2. Cooky
3. Skip
4. KP
5. Belly
6. Colly
7. Fred
8. Ambrosey
10. Harmy
11. Monty

Totally disagree. Cook should face first ball.

NB When I said Colly makes the twelve, perhaps I should have said thirteen.
I was picking my XI from the squad. Ramps ain’t in it. If we’re going with any eligible players perhaps Shah at 6. I’d never pick Ramprakash again tho.

I would have Broad in for Ambrose and rotate the keeper’s gloves around volunteers

Ad: PERHAPS?
Please never lower journalism to this level again.
Never pick Ramps again? That Sir, is why you are not a selector.

Roger: ‘journalism’. Never to be confused with Pie Chucker.
