Wow. England started the morning at about 250 runs short of NZ’s 1st innings total of 381-9 (no teeth Flynn was absent, having become an automatic Leeds United fan). They put up feeble resistance and bar Stuart Broad (30, 4 fours) got almost no runs, sneaking past the follow-on target. I at this moment felt desolate. England I optimistically thought could skittle them for 150, but hang on: England will never get over 300 to win a test. EVER.
Monty did a job. 6-37. Only needed 9 as Jimmy has done his teeth smashing and big baby Flynn didn’t want any more. NZ made less than 120 and with Strauss and Vaughan still there at 76-1, it should be a great Bank Holiday’s play.
