India go into the Third Test against South Africa 1-0 down, looking to level the series. The 1st Test ended in a draw & was notable for Virender Sehwag’s 319; his 300 coming from 278 balls, the fastest triple century ever. Graeme Smith’s view?
“A draw’s better than a loss.” Is he the new Brearley?
The 2nd Test ended in an innings defeat for India as they were bowled out for 76 in their 1st innings, a position from which it proved impossible to recover. SA made 494-7 dec & India couldn’t make them bat again. Kumble confirmed:
“It was difficult to come back after getting bowled out for 76.” Thanks Anil.
India have made some bowling changes going into the deciding match, with squad recalls for pace bowlers Ishant Sharma and Munaf Patel. These are two sides who really fancy their chances of overtaking Australia as the best team in the world; India’s claims will look a little hollow if they lose a home series, whilst South Africa travel to England later this summer where the smug grin will hopefully be wiped of Graeme Smith’s boat race once and for all. Whatever happens, this Third test should produce some more good cricket and the unbiased Pie Chucker wishes India all the best.

SA are going to provide some test for England if they can win in India.
