Day 2. Jimmy eats world.

June 7th, 2008 · No Comments

What a day for James ‘Jimmy’ Anderson.  England started the day with Broad and Jimmy at the crease; both got Test High Scores (Broad 64, Anderson 28) before The Boy From Burnley sheared Toursits’ Top Order and followed his best ever batting with his best ever bowling.  For New Zealand it has been another good start gone wrong, familiar territory in recents contests.

England made it it to 364 in the morning, thanks to Broad’s maiden half century and Anderson’s top score, the two men sharing an eighth wicket stand of 76.  It was a total they could only have been dreaming about at 86-5 on Day one.  New Zealand followed the example set by the Hosts’ front line batsmen and found themselves 96-6 at the close of play, 268 behind.  Jimmy Anderson took all 6 wickets and may be in the mood for more today.  If he can get his away swinger going as well as he did yesterday, Jimbo might join Laker & Kumble in the ten-fer club.
