England have announced their squads for the forthcoming Test Match and ODI series’ in New Zealand. The biggest talking point is the omission of wicket-keeper Matt Prior. Prior, like his recent predecessors, has struggled with the role so the gloves will be worn by the winner of a drinking competition between Tim Ambrose and Phil Mustard. Chairman of Selectors David Graveney said (of Prior):
“The selectors feel that he needs to further improve his wicket-keeping in order to realise his full potential in international cricket. But I’m sure Matt will be back, there’s no doubt about that.”
Of course he’ll be back. We are unable to stick with the same keeper for more than a year or two. Graveney indicated that Ambrose would start in the Tests and Mustard in the One Day side. Pie Chucker wishes both well but expects some slapstick keeping nonetheless.

I had mustard in my custard once. It was nearly as disgusting as that [edited] pig Matt Prior

England are looking for a Test standard wicket-keeper batsman. They’ve tried numerous options. Perhaps it will occur to them at some point that they don’t have one?
Prior is indeed a pig. The new Grunt Jones in a less successful side.
Cheers,
