England bowlers Sajid Mahmood and Simon Jones will feature in a new Bollywood cricket film. Neither fast bowler has featured for England recently, Jones having struggled with injury and Mahmood with form, though they will fancy their chances of an England recall if the current squad continues to underperform.
The film, entitled ‘Victory’ is about a boy from Rajasthan who becomes the best cricketer in the world. Mahmood and Jones - who will play themselves - fly out to Sydney next week to begin filming. Sajid Mahmood told the Guardian:
“I don’t have a big role, I just play myself and bowl - that can’t be too difficult. It’s quite exciting. Fortunately I haven’t got many lines and it will be a good chance to see how people work in other professions,” he continued. “The older members of my family will be chuffed to bits but I’m more into Hollywood action movies.”
The film also features Australians Brett Lee, Allan Border, Jason Gillespie and Mike Hussey & crowd scenes are being shot during the current test match at the SCG.
