Eng v SA; 3rd Test, 1st Day

July 30th, 2008 · 2 Comments

This series is provoking people. Take a glance at the comments sent in to the BBC OBO. Rob Key for captain, says one. England in crisis, say I. If one person wants Rob Key as England Captain, the daily threat of earthquake peril in Southern California I live with is a trifle.

England win series 2-0

June 11th, 2008 · 1 Comment

England enjoyed their second consecutive series win against New Zealand after victory at Trent Bridge.  The Amazing Ryan Sidebottom took six wickets in the Kiwis’ second innings to give England a 2-0 win in this ‘home leg’.  Apparently our next Test Match isn’t against New Zealand; who can remember when that was last the case?  […]

Egland v NZ; 3rd Test, 3rd Day.

June 7th, 2008 · 6 Comments

What happens when the DVLA are located in Wales? They write Egland as your country of birth. Unless you are from Wales, I suppose. Even with a post-it note with the correct spelling of this fine land, you get Egland. This is forgiven in exchange for Simon Jones. Or is it? With England’s current seam attack, […]

Day 2. Jimmy eats world.

June 7th, 2008 · No Comments

What a day for James ‘Jimmy’ Anderson.  England started the day with Broad and Jimmy at the crease; both got Test High Scores (Broad 64, Anderson 28) before The Boy From Burnley sheared Toursits’ Top Order and followed his best ever batting with his best ever bowling.  For New Zealand it has been another good start gone […]

England v NZ; 3rd Test, 1st Day.

June 6th, 2008 · No Comments

Is it me, or are Cook are Vaughan not on fire? Cook on fire! It was an absorbing day’s cricket, with the BBC OBO providing some usual star moments. After Vettori thrust England in, it looked like a wise move as England slumped to 44-2, but at 84-2 at lunch, England had somewhat recovered.

England go 1-0 up

May 27th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Pie Chucker apologises to New Zealand fans everywhere.  As soon as we said England would probably lose this 2nd Test the writing was on the wall for the Black Caps.  In light of this, we’d like to congratulate Australia on their 2009 five nil Ashes whitewash…

England v NZ; 2nd Test, 3rd Day

May 26th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Wow. England started the morning at about 250 runs short of NZ’s 1st innings total of 381-9 (no teeth Flynn was absent, having become an automatic Leeds United fan). They put up feeble resistance and bar Stuart Broad (30, 4 fours) got almost no runs, sneaking past the follow-on target. I at this moment felt […]

I read in various sources that Jimmy Anderson had broken teeth. Erm. That’s what (Goodnight) Anderson does. I fail to see why this is news. Rumour has it that the Australians are not coming to England next year, due to sheer terror at the prospect of facing him.

Badass mofo

May 24th, 2008 · 3 Comments

The message to the New Zealanders yesterday was clear: Don’t mess wiv da Burnley Bronco.  On his home ground Jimmy Anderson bullied the Tourists into submission.  Well, he hit two batsmen in the same over and in the absence of an English Courtney Walsh, England fans have to make do with this level of intimidation.  Perhaps it […]

Day 3. Rain.

May 18th, 2008 · No Comments

Just 8.5 overs were possible on the 3rd Day at Lords, during which Cook reached 50 as the openers guided England to 89-0.  lay was delayed for 25 minutes in the morning, but worse was to follow as there was no cricket at all between lunch and stumps.  Strauss (31) and Cook (53) will resume […]
